MARKET CONFIDENCE | MRCDC/Roxian Theatre
The McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation (MRCDC) is being honored for its work in redeveloping the Roxian Theatre in McKees Rocks during the 3rd annual Healthy Neighborhoods Celebration hosted by Neighborhood Allies. The event is from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Oakland.
MRCDC’s project to redevelop the Roxian Theatre embraces the spirit of the McKees Rocks community while standing out with preserved and polished architectural features, according to the Healthy Neighborhoods award committee.
“The importance of this theatre to the community can not be overstated – McKees Rocks is now a destination where the performing arts are a key ingredient in the process of helping generate economic activity, sparking new businesses and attracting visitors to the neighborhood.”
Using Neighborhood Allies’ Healthy Neighborhoods Framework as the inspiration, the Healthy Neighborhoods Celebration & Award Ceremony, honors and celebrates examples of exemplary work in the following categories – market confidence, quality of life, neighborhood image, community ownership, equitable development, and Ally of the Year.
This annual event brings together a unique network of allies, ranging from local residents, to nonprofit professionals, to artists and executives to honor and lift up the people and organizations who are working hard every day to build healthy neighborhoods across the Pittsburgh region. Each year, six awards are given, each accompanied by a short video, highlighting the awardees’ work and how they are contributing to building Healthy Neighborhoods.
