McKees Rocks Mayor David Flick, Police Chief Rick Deliman and Grow Sto-Rox Program Manager Dorrian Glenn joined with MRCDC Executive Director Taris Vrcek and the staff at McKees Rocks CDC to finalize portions of a presentation made by community stakeholders to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on March 8.

CHOICE NEIGHBORHOODS

Late last year, the Allegheny County Housing Authority received a Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant to help plan for the redevelopment of the McKees Rocks public housing property Hays Manor.

One of eight awarded nationwide, the planning grant will be used in support of the development of comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plans which focus on directing resources to address three core goals: Housing, People and Neighborhoods.

To achieve these core goals, communities must develop and implement a comprehensive neighborhood revitalization strategy, or transformation plan.

This plan will become the guiding document for the revitalization of the public housing units while simultaneously directing the transformation of the surrounding neighborhood and positive outcomes for families.
