Thank you, healthcare workers!

COVID -19

Thank you, Sto-Rox Family Health Center!

The staff and board at MRCDC appreciate the selfless work the team at the Sto-Rox Family Health Center put forth on the front line during the coronavirus pandemic.

To thank them for their hard work and dedication to our communities, MRCDC purchased gift certificates from small businesses in both Stowe and McKees Rocks and provided them as gifts to the 26 healthcare employees.

During the ongoing pandemic, the staff there has not only been testing for COVID-19 but proactively calling and checking in with more than 6,000 patients to screen for symptoms of the coronavirus.

To keep exposure to a minimum, ongoing visits with patients are initially screened during a “TeleMed” visit where the doctor talks with the patient over video or phone. For complex cases, the patient then may be asked to make an in-person visit with the doctor, as the center is not open for walk-ins.

The Sto-Rox Family Health Center is part of the Sto-Rox Neighborhood Health Council along with the Hilltop Community Health Center in the Allentown area of Pittsburgh.

Both locations are federally qualified health centers and provide care for all including the uninsured. A sliding payment scale is utilized for those who are uninsured. No one is turned away for inability to pay.

“We are going to provide care whether we get paid for it or not,” said Dr. Rebecca Brady, chief operating officer.

COVID-19 testing is currently being offered at the centers on alternating weeks and antibody testing to see if you may have had the virus is not available. Testing is completed in conjunction with the Allegheny County Health Department.

The Sto-Rox Family Health Center is located at  710 Thompson Ave., McKees Rocks. For for information, (412) 771-6462 or storoxfqhc.org
