As part of the “Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant” implementation here in McKees Rocks, surveyors representing the Neighborhood Team will be going door-to-door in the coming weeks to get residents’ input on the future of Hays Manor.

“[The grant] will position the community to create an ambitious plan that will revitalize Hays Manor, catalyze community improvements, and expand opportunities for residents,” according to the HUD project summary.

Preliminary discussions have included the idea of taking advantage of the waterfront near Hays Manor and creating various affordable housing options integrated with market-rate housing in the area. Your input is needed to expand upon these preliminary discussions.

Anyone who completes the survey will be entered into a contest to win various prizes including grocery gift certificates and cash cards. The grand prize is a pair of tickets to the Dec. 24 Pittsburgh Steelers home game, where legendary Steeler Franco Harris’ number will be retired.
