McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation introduces new 2017-18 Coro Fellow Tina Al-khersan.
Looking to expand her experiences beyond that of working with refugees and immigrants, Tina made the decision after graduating from University of Michigan to travel to Pittsburgh and experience a fellowship through Coro Pittsburgh.
Based on her interests, Tina was assigned to us here in McKees Rocks where she plans to continue outreach efforts geared toward enlisting the help of local resident in revitalizing their communities. Additionally, she’ll explore her interests in public affairs, vulnerable populations and politics.
A first-generation immigrant, Tina, who hails from Northville, Michigan, moved to the United States as a toddler. She was born in New Zealand where her family had moved from Iraq to escape the effects of the Gulf War.
Growing up a Michigander, she says she enjoys playing hockey, snowy winters, reading, Fall cider and her kitty cats. She earned dual bachelor’s in International Studies and Arabic while at the University of Michigan.
Welcome to McKees Rocks, Tina!
