It’s time for the announcement you have all been waiting for McKees Rocks!

The historic Roxian Theatre’s grand opening events feature some heavy-hitting national acts and a night dedicated to community fanfare. We’ll also be celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Roxian’s original opening in 1929 as a vaudeville theater.

The May 10, 2019 reopening of the Roxian Theatre located at 425 Chartiers Ave., McKees Rocks, will vastly enhance the live music culture of Pittsburgh by providing a venue space in the 800-1,500 range. Touring acts that would otherwise pass through the city will now find a home in this McKees Rocks venue.

“Music really unites the people and feeds the soul,” said John Pergal, Roxian Live partner, commenting on how the Roxian was designed for live entertainment with great sight lines and acoustics.

ABOUT ROXIAN THEATRE PROJECT

The persistence and support of many local players and investors has made possible McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation’s dream of reviving this crucial piece of McKees Rocks history a reality.

Both Pergal and Taris Vrcek, executive director of MRCDC, predict that once operating, the music venue will spark further development, including retail, and restaurants, and attract additional jobs and visitors to the community.

“What a way to open a venue and usher in a new era for our downtown,” said Vrcek. “We’ve been talking about it for years and I am still amazed at the caliber of acts being announced for the first few shows at the Roxian.”
