We’re proud to announce that a new affordable housing building is headed to McKees Rocks, thanks to federal tax credits awarded by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency and our partnership with ACTION Housing to address this much-reported need.
The Chartiers Avenue apartment will feature a new four-story building with parking and 35 one-bedroom and 9 two-bedroom units for general occupancy.
The 54,548-square-foot project, developed by ACTION Housing, will feature ground-level commercial units at the corner of Chartiers and Island avenues.
“We’ve heard you share your needs and are delivering new commercial space and 44 units of affordable housing that is and will remain well-maintained,” says Taris Vrcek, MRCDC executive director, of the project partnership with ACTION Housing.
Construction is anticipated to start late next summer or early fall, and it typically takes 14 to 16 months to complete.
The project is made possible through $1.85 million in federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits for construction.
Special thanks to State Senator Wayne Fontana, who helped to secure these funds.
