Food pantry: Service continues for those in need in Sto-Rox area

During the COVID-19 pandemic, foodbanks everywhere are adjusting operations to accommodate an influx of new participants. 

In Stowe, operation has been expanded to a weekly basis and in McKees Rocks, a fundraising drive was launched raising more than $5,000 for Focus on Renewal’s food and nutrition programs. Smaller church-based locations are also in operation throughout the Sto-Rox region.


STOWE TOWNSHIP – Until further notice, the Stowe Food Bank will be open every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon. Stowe Township residents who are in need are invited to register to attend once a month.  

Location: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 8 Russellwood Ave., Stowe.

McKEES ROCKS – Focus On Renewal provides a food pantry for McKees Rocks residents. Community members who are in need are welcome to visit the food pantry once a month. 

Pantry days are Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. Senior boxes are to be picked up between noon and 1 p.m., also on Fridays.

Location: Hays Manor, Building 15/16, 302 Bell Ave., McKees Rocks.

Documentation requirements for both pantries:

  • PHOTO ID – Name, Date of Birth, Photo
  • SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER – For EVERY MEMBER of the household
  • PROOF OF ADDRESS – You must bring a current piece of mail (stamped within the last 30 days) EVERY time you come. F.O.R. accepts current lease agreement, as well.
  • PROOF OF INCOME – From EVERY MEMBER of the household
