“It Starts with the Field’ grand opening at Sto-Rox set for Aug. 19 with community photo

As the ‘It Starts With the Field’ project nears completion a grand opening celebration is being planned for Monday, Aug. 19 at the Sto-Rox High School field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Art Rooney II will speak during the event. There will also be a chance for attendees to win two Steeler game tickets and other raffle items.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the field, 1105 Valley St., Stowe.

The community will be invited onto the field at 7 p.m. to prepare for a group photo of the community on the field at about 7:15.

On behalf of the community, MRCDC shares a special thank you with all of the Sto-Rox, McKees Rocks and Stowe alumni, business owners, school district officials and others who worked so hard to bring this community activities field to the area.

We’re proud to have played a part in making this dream a reality.  The MRCDC applied for and received a $100,000 grant for the project from the Commonwealth’s Financing Authority.
